exhibit highlights men’s, women’s and children’s clothing of the 1920s.

“Shanghai”
exhibit at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco.
“Shanghai” explores, through the mirror of its art, the tumultuous
history that has resulted in one of the world’s most dynamic and

“The Purse and the Person: A Century of Women’s Purses”,
California Museum, downtown Sacramento. This exhibit uses purses and their
contents as a window on the changing roles of women over the past 100 years
- from Edwardian matron to 1980s Superwoman.
The museum is located at 1020 O Street, one block south of State
Capitol Park and is opened Monday thru Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and
Sunday 12 pm to 5 pm. $8.50

“Streamline Fashion and Automobiles” exhibit at the Petersen Automotive
Museum, Los Angeles.
During
the last 100 years more attention has been devoted to the designs of apparel
and automobiles than to the designs of any other consumer goods. Two
of the most personally revealing categories of objects ever conceived, cars
and clothing have been shaped by an almost universal obsession with speed
and movement, the twin fascinations of the twentieth century.
Cars are now as essential to one’s self-expression as hats, gowns,

SOCA Annual Home Tour.
The 35th
Annual Sacramento Old City Association home tour will be in Bungalow Row,
25th & Q Streets, Midtown, Sacramento.
This year SOCA is celebrating the 100th
birthday of Bungalow Row. The
historic-home walking tour will showcase homes on and adjacent to Bungalow
Row on Q Street at 26th Street A street fair featuring artisans and crafts
persons specializing in historic properties will be held in Winn Park at
27th & P Streets. Tour tickets are $25 and will be available at the street
fair. The street fair is free.
